Two Premier League clubs want 36-year-old midfield maestro Luka Modric
Croatian maestro Luka Modric continues to turn heads at the very top of European football, despite being 36, he is once again a wanted man – at two Premier League clubs.
According to a report and quotes via the Sun, Real Madrid’s Modric is wanted by reigning English champions Manchester City and cash-rich Newcastle, who will be looking to make a real impact in the upper half of the table next season.
Modric produced a scintillating assist in the Champions League quarter final last week to ensure the Spanish club once again make up the final four of the competition, and it’s that kind of magic that has opened up a possibility of a return to the Premier League (which he left in 2012).
However, Carlo Ancelotti was quick to shut down such rumours of a lucrative move to England, insisting that his midfield ace is determined to see out his days at the Bernabeu;
“Luka Modric will finish his career here at Real Madrid.”
“I don’t know when but it will happen – this is the idea of the club and Luka.”
“Modric won’t have problems to renew the contract – I compare him to Paolo Maldini.”
