Tottenham, West Ham and Southampton battle to sign England stopper
The Premier League trio of Tottenham, Southampton and West Ham are all in direct competition to sign West Bromwich Albion’s England international goalkeeper Sam Johnstone – via a report from BBC Sport.
Southampton want Johnstone to sign next summer, with the likes of Alex McCarhy and Fraser Forster currently on the books, while Spurs are likely to be in a similar position considering they boast France’s number one Hugo Lloris and Pierluigi Gollini (who just signed a loan deal from Atalanta).
West Ham are another set to be eyeing up the 28-year-old shot stopper, with their number one Lukasz Fabiański currently 36-years-old.
Sam Johnstone was rewarded with his good form in the Championship for the Baggies with a cap for England in last week’s 5-0 victory over Andorra, and with his contract expiring next summer he’s expected to be on the move.
