Tottenham and Everton offered chance to sign £142m playmaker

The Premier League duo of Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have both been given the opportunity to sign a playmaker who was bought for £142million in 2018, but now appears to be available for just a fraction of that price.

Barcelona’s Brazilian Coutinho was signed from Liverpool in 2018 for a record-fee at the time but has failed to fulfil what the Catalans wanted when he arrived at the Camp Nou.

Tottenham could be interested but a lot depends on the future of Harry Kane, while Everton are reportedly not keen to bring the former Reds star across the city to Goodison Park – that is according to the Liverpool Echo.

Everton aren’t keen to burdened by Coutinho’s massive wage demands and boss Rafa Benitez has other midfield targets before the transfer window closes.

Barcelona have already said goodbye to Lionel Messi due to their crisis-like finances and the sale of Coutinho will be a top priority as the Spanish club scramble to clear their hugely-inflated wage bill.
