Southampton target sensational return for ex-teenage star on deadline day
Southampton have emerged as the leading contender to sign Theo Walcott on deadline day, a move which would mark a sensational return for the English international to the south coast.
According to Sky Sports Transfer Centre, Southampton want to sign the Everton forward, now 31, having sold him to Arsenal at the age of 16.
Walcott has been phased out of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans at Goodison Park and his chances of regular first team football look increasingly unlikely given the big signings this summer.
Southampton sold Walcott in 2006 for £12million, scoring four times for the Saints in 21 appearances.
