  • Dovbyk’s agent reveals Atlético Madrid’s offer lacked a serious project and financial competitiveness.
  • The Ukrainian striker has agreed to join AS Roma, boosting their attacking options.
  • Managed by José Mourinho, AS Roma aims to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

Atlético Madrid’s Approach Falls Short

Artem Dovbyk’s agent, Alex Lundovsky, disclosed that while Atlético Madrid expressed interest in the Ukrainian striker, their offer was significantly lower financially compared to other clubs. Lundovsky told Ukrfootball, “Atlético Madrid is a great club, but we didn’t see a serious project for Artem there.”

Despite the stature of Atlético Madrid, known for their strong defensive tactics under manager Diego Simeone, the financial terms of their offer did not meet expectations. This led Dovbyk to consider other options, ultimately giving his green light to AS Roma.

Dovbyk’s Career and Statistics

Artem Dovbyk, a 27-year-old centre-forward currently playing for Girona FC in La Liga, has had an impressive career trajectory. Here are some key statistics:

  • Total Appearances: 212
  • Total Goals: 102
  • Total Assists: 27
  • Total Minutes Played: 14,007

His transfer history includes moves from Dnipro to Midtjylland in 2018 for €1.2 million, a free transfer back to Dnipro-1 in 2020, and a recent move to Girona in 2023 for €7.75 million. Dovbyk has also made 31 appearances for the Ukrainian national team, scoring 10 goals.

AS Roma’s Strategic Acquisition

Managed by José Mourinho, AS Roma is looking to strengthen their squad, and Dovbyk’s addition is seen as a significant boost. The club has been active in the transfer market, recently finalizing a deal for Matias Soulé from Juventus, highlighting their ambition for the upcoming season.

Dovbyk’s move to AS Roma aligns with Mourinho’s strategy to build a robust attacking lineup. This transfer is expected to enhance Roma’s offensive capabilities, providing them with a crucial edge in both domestic and European competitions.
