João Pereira’s Brief Tenure
João Pereira’s time as head coach of Sporting CP didn’t last long after he started in November 2024. While he was there Sporting only won one game in four league matches and got beaten badly 5-1 by Arsenal and lost 2-1 to Club Brugge in the Champions League. Even with these bad results Sporting somehow stayed at the top of the Primeira Liga because of goal difference. The club wanted better results which is why they got rid of Pereira.
