The Decision to Move

In 2016, West Ham United took the big step to move to the London Stadium which started something new for the club. Moving from their beloved Boleyn Ground was done to get a bigger place with better stuff. Karren Brady the clubs vice-chairman, was really important in making this happen she thought it would bring in more fans and make games better. David Gold who was co-chairman agreed with her and said moving was really important for the clubs history. Having more seats and modern stuff was supposed to help the club do better against other teams.

Challenges and Criticisms

Even though the clubs leaders said it was good moving to the London Stadium not everyone was happy about it. Fans weren’t sure about the feeling in the stadium because the seats were far from the pitch which could make games less exciting. Also, people had questions about the money stuff especially because lots of public money was used. These problems showed how hard it is to move to a new stadium when you want new things but also want to keep what made the club special.

Adapting to a New Environment

Getting used to the London Stadium had good and bad parts. The club tried to get better players after moving like Jose Fonte who won UEFA Euro 2016 with Portugal from Southampton. But at first it was hard under manager Slaven Bilic because of things like the pitch size and how the stadium felt. West Ham United has been trying to make things work better and get the most from their new home.

The story at the London Stadium is still going on as West Ham United tries to figure out how to make their new home work while trying to do good in the Premier League.
