Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has come out and slammed forward Timo Werner for how he’s been playing lately. Being pretty blunt about it Postecoglou said he wasn’t happy with Werner’s form saying its just not good enough. Since Werner is one of the more experienced players he should be showing the others what to do but he just hasn’t stepped up. The manager made it clear that everyone needs to give 100% especially when the club’s going through a rough patch.
- Postecoglou said Werner’s performance was not good enough
- Werner needs to show leadership as a senior player
- Postecoglou told this to Fabrizio Romano who tweeted it
Challenges Facing Tottenham
What Postecoglou said comes at a time when Tottenham has other problems too. Defender Cristian Romero has been complaining about the board which shows there’s trouble inside the club. Even though Romero still backs what Postecoglou wants to do with the team. Postecoglou knows they need to spend more money on players and wants to get new ones when the transfer window opens up.
🚨⚠️ Postecoglou: “Timo Werner wasn’t playing anywhere near the levels he can”.
“It’s not acceptable to me. I told him that. He’s a senior international”.
“In this moment, I need everyone to be at least going out there and giving the best they can”, says via @AlasdairGold. https://t.co/SqW8kS7Ns6

The game preview shows how important it is for experienced players like Werner to do their job properly.
Spotlight on Timo Werner
This Europa League game against Rangers is super important for both Tottenham and Werner. It’s Werner’s chance to show he can do what Postecoglou wants and prove what he can do. While Tottenham deals with all this stuff, everyone’s watching Werner to see if he can play like someone with his experience should.
