Mauricio Pochettino’s hiring as the head coach of the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) looks like a smart choice as the team gets ready for the 2026 World Cup. The Argentine manager who’s done really good at top European clubs brings a lot of experience to the US national team. Pochettino wants to make sure the team performs at its best for the World Cup.

Well-known football manager Mauricio Pochettino has big plans for the USMNT. His experience managing top clubs and working with young players should help the team do better especially with the 2026 FIFA World Cup coming up. Pochettino did really good before like getting Tottenham Hotspur to the UEFA Champions League final in 2019. In a recent


Pochettino told fans “My message to the fans is that we’re going to arrive at the World Cup in the best condition and we’re going to be difficult to defeat.”

Preparations and Challenges

Pochettino has been working hard to get the USMNT ready for upcoming games. He just picked 23 players for a training camp before important matches with Korea Republic and Japan which are part of getting ready for the World Cup. Even though they lost 2-0 to South Korea Pochettino still feels good and says they need to be in great shape for the World Cup. He really likes his old player Son Heung-min who just joined LAFC in MLS which shows how international players are making the league better.

Building a Competitive Team

Even though there were some problems at first and stories about issues with USMNT star Christian Pulisic, Pochettino is trying to keep the team happy and working together. He says he still wants to make a team that can play against anyone. Pochettino coming in happens when Major League Soccer (MLS) is getting bigger and better with big players maybe coming like Kevin De Bruyne possibly going to Chicago Fire. While Pochettino and the USMNT get ready for the World Cup fans are hoping the team does really good at home.
