Tottenham are understood to want a permanent financial solution before Richarlison can leave, with Vasco da Gama emerging as the clearest route back to Brazilian club football. Nothing has been completed yet, and the forward remains on Spurs’ books.

  • Richarlison is pushing for a way out of Tottenham, with Vasco da Gama a potential destination in Brazil.
  • Tottenham are seeking a financial resolution, with their asking price reportedly set at around €23 million.
  • No exit, contract termination or transfer agreement has been finalised, leaving open the possibility of a stand-off until January.

Richarlison’s Current Situation at Tottenham

Richarlison is still contracted to Tottenham, but Roberto De Zerbi has made it clear that the player told him at the start of pre-season that he wanted to leave. De Zerbi also said he invited the Brazilian forward to discuss a contract extension, only for Richarlison to turn that down.

That helps explain Tottenham’s stance now. De Zerbi’s position was simple: if a player wants to go, he has to bring “an economic solution to the club” before he can leave. The manager added that Spurs would move on with Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush, which underlined how far this situation has drifted from a routine squad discussion.

Richarlison’s squad status has only added to the pressure. He is reportedly outside Tottenham’s Premier League plans and has been training with the Under-21 squad, even though he remains officially on the club’s books. That contrast has sharpened the situation, especially after a 2025/26 Premier League return of 11 goals and four assists in 32 appearances.

Vasco da Gama’s Interest and the Fee Gap

Vasco da Gama remain the clearest destination if Richarlison does get his move. Club director Admar Lopes said Vasco were in talks with Tottenham, noting that he believed the forward would elevate the team’s attack and felt a deal was viable during the window.

The problem is the gap between the two clubs’ valuations. Vasco’s opening offer was reportedly €10 million, while Tottenham were looking for at least double that amount, with around €23 million believed to be Spurs’ current asking price. Vasco first explored a loan, but Tottenham were not interested in that route, so the conversation shifted towards a permanent transfer instead.

Pedro Emanuel has also remained cautious in public. The Vasco coach praised Richarlison but declined to go into detail on a player who is not part of the club’s first-team squad. If the move does happen, it would be Richarlison’s first spell back in Brazilian club football since leaving Fluminense for Watford in 2017.

What Could Happen Next for Richarlison

The cleanest outcome is still a negotiated permanent deal, but the reported financial gap means that route remains unresolved.

Another possibility remains unsettled. Richarlison could still try to force a unilateral termination, yet that possibility is disputed and should not be treated as a certainty in either direction. Vasco have made it clear they would not be legally involved in any independent resolution between the player and Tottenham.

If there is no movement, the stand-off could simply drag on. Richarlison may end up staying at Tottenham until January while remaining frozen out of the Premier League picture, which would leave all sides back at the same question: whether a permanent fee can be found to finally unlock the exit he wants.
