Joe Willock’s Future: Beşiktaş Bid Leaves Newcastle with a Decision

Beşiktaş have submitted a formal bid for Joe Willock, leaving Newcastle United to decide whether to sell a midfielder who still featured regularly last season and has emerged as the Turkish club’s top midfield target.

  • Beşiktaş have submitted a formal bid for Joe Willock.
  • The midfielder has emerged as the Turkish club’s leading target in the centre of the park.
  • Newcastle must now decide whether to sell a midfielder who still featured regularly last season.

Joe Willock’s Current Situation at Newcastle

Willock is still very much a Newcastle midfielder, boasting recent involvement across the Premier League, Champions League, EFL Cup and FA Cup. In 2025, he made 24 Premier League appearances – including 10 starts – while also featuring in Europe and the domestic cups.

Beşiktaş have made their move, but Newcastle have not yet accepted, rejected or countered the bid.

The Gap Between Besiktas and Newcastle

Earlier approaches were said to have fallen short of Newcastle’s asking price, with a £10m bid previously rejected and the club reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of £17.4m.

One proposed package has been mooted at €7m up front plus up to €5m in add-ons, though these figures represent the ongoing negotiations rather than a finalised structure. Newcastle’s decision on the bid still depends on whether that gap can be closed.

What Newcastle’s Decision Could Mean for Willock

Willock is reportedly entering the final year of his Newcastle contract, making the club’s decision more important. He has featured in all four of Newcastle’s pre-season matches, a clear sign that he remains an active part of the squad while the Turkish bid sits on the table.

Although his league minutes have been slightly reduced compared to his peak on Tyneside, Willock still offers value to the rotation rather than looking like a simple fringe exit. Newcastle’s next step will determine whether that squad role outweighs the chance to cash in.
