Man United is having some big problems at the back under manager Ruben Amorim, letting in 17 goals in just 9 games. People are starting to question Amorim’s tactics, especially that 3-4-3 setup he likes to use, since the team can’t seem to stop leaking goals. But it’s not all bad news cause young players like Alejandro Garnacho are doing really well showing that Amorim knows how to work with the youth.
- Man United has let in 17 goals in 9 matches in all competitions
- People don’t think Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation is working cause of all the defensive mistakes
- Young players like Alejandro Garnacho are getting better under Amorim
Ruben Amorim’s Tactical Setup
Ruben Amorim who everyone knows for being good with tactics and bringing up young players, has brought something different to Man United. He learned his stuff at Sporting CP where he got really good at managing teams. He likes using this 3-4-3 formation to try and balance defense with attack. But things have been up and down at United so far. The team’s doing ok in Champions League winning 3 out of 4 games but in the Premier League it’s been pretty bad with only 2 wins in 6 games.
Manchester United conceded (again on set piece) their 18th goal under Amorim as coach.

Amorim really believes in giving young players like Alejandro Garnacho a chance which shows what he wants to do long-term. There’s more about this in an article about how he works with young players.
Young Players and What’s Coming Next
Even though the defense isn’t great right now, Amorim’s time at Man United has helped some young players get better. Alejandro Garnacho especially is going to be really important for how Amorim wants to play. You can see how Amorim helps players when you look at how he’s dealing with Mason Mount who’s been struggling. Amorim really wants to help players improve to make the team stronger.
While Man United tries to figure out how to do better in the Premier League getting these young players involved and fixing the tactics will be super important for doing well later on.
