Patrick Dorgu’s Move to Manchester United
Patrick Dorgu who’s 20 years old and plays left-back for Denmark, has made a huge jump by signing with Manchester United. He’s good at defending and can play different positions, and started his career at US Lecce. He played really good in Serie A which got lots of big European clubs looking at him, and then he ended up moving to Manchester United in February 2025. The president at Lecce, Sticchi Damiani said Manchester United really wanted him and Dorgu was super excited to join the club which helped make it happen.
🚨 Lecce president Sticchi Damiani: “We tried to keep Patrick Dorgu and agree with Man United for next season, but they really wanted him now”.
“There was no other way, Dorgu was a key target for them and for Amorim. Patrick wanted to go and we closed this historical sale”.

Rúben Amorim’s Strategic Vision
Getting Patrick Dorgu shows what Rúben Amorim wants to do at Manchester United. He likes working with young players, and thinks Dorgu will be really important for making the team he wants – one that’s young and moves quick. You can see this in how he’s handling players like Alejandro Garnacho who’s going to have a big part to play under Amorim. The way Amorim helps players get better and comes up with new tactics is setting up Manchester United for what’s coming next.
Lecce’s Perspective on the Transfer
For US Lecce letting Dorgu go to Manchester United is like the biggest thing that’s happened to them. They knew they were letting go of a really good player but they saw how big the chance was for him at Manchester United. The president called it a “historical sale” which shows how good they are at helping young players get better and how crazy the transfer market is these days.
