Tottenham Close in on Omar Marmoush After Verbal Agreement

Tottenham now appear to have moved beyond advanced talks and into verbal-agreement territory for Omar Marmoush over the past few days. The proposed deal would begin as a loan and could turn into a mandatory £50m purchase under certain conditions. Personal terms were agreed earlier in the week, leaving just the formal steps to be completed.

  • Tottenham have moved from being confident about a deal to reaching a verbal agreement for Omar Marmoush.
  • The proposed structure is an initial loan with a £50m buy clause, which could become mandatory under certain conditions.
  • Marmoush could travel for a medical on Monday if the remaining formalities are tied up.

Tottenham’s Current Position on Omar Marmoush

Omar Marmoush remains a Manchester City player for now, which is the clearest reason not to treat this one as a done deal just yet.

The framework of a proposed five-year contract is in place on the player’s side.

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has also said that Marmoush has not asked to leave the club. Maresca’s comment means City have not publicly framed the move as player-driven, even as talks continue.

Why Tottenham Have Accelerated Their Move

Tottenham’s interest makes sense in the context of Roberto De Zerbi wanting more attacking help as his new project gets underway. He has already made it clear that another couple of important attacking players are needed, and Marmoush has become part of that wider push rather than a one-off market opportunity.

Spurs stepped things up after the Savinho development, while that situation remains in the background. Marmoush would give Tottenham another forward option rather than simply being framed as a direct replacement for Dominic Solanke.

Marmoush’s Profile and Tottenham Prospects

Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 for about £59m and is under contract until June 2029. His recent output has been solid rather than explosive, with three Premier League goals in 701 minutes during the 2025 season, plus two FA Cup goals and three in the EFL Cup.

His game offers Tottenham something a little different in the final third. Marmoush can run in behind and link play, which gives him a route to playing alongside Solanke rather than simply taking his spot. Official confirmation would still depend on the remaining formalities.
