Harvey Elliott’s move from Liverpool to Valencia is progressing quickly towards its final stages, with a loan switch to La Liga now looking increasingly realistic before the 1 September deadline. A medical is set to follow, and Valencia are expected to cover most of his salary if everything is signed off.
- Valencia have reached an advanced agreement to take Elliott from Liverpool on loan.
- Elliott is set for a medical, while Valencia would cover most of his salary if the move goes through.
- No official confirmation has been made yet, but the switch could hand Elliott a route back to regular senior football.
Harvey Elliott’s Valencia Move Is at an Advanced Stage
Harvey Elliott’s proposed switch from Liverpool to Valencia appears to have moved beyond early talks and into the final procedural stages. The move is expected to be a loan, with Valencia pushing to get it over the line before the transfer window closes at 11pm on 1 September.
The current package reportedly includes a verbal agreement, a scheduled medical, Valencia taking on most of Elliott’s salary, and Liverpool giving the move the green light. That still stops short of a completed transfer, however, and there has been no formal announcement from either club or the player.
Liverpool Role Has Opened the Door to a Move
Elliott’s situation at Liverpool helps explain why this move has gathered pace so late in the window. In the 2024/25 Premier League season, he has started just 20 per cent of his matches and been used from the bench in the other 80 per cent, underlining how difficult it has been for him to secure a regular starting spot.
The opening weeks of the current campaign have done little to change that picture. Elliott has remained on the fringes, and Andoni Iraola recently made it clear that while the midfielder had been trying and improving each week, he still preferred other options when balancing his squad.
Valencia Talks Could Shape Elliott’s Next Opportunity
Elliott has also reportedly held talks with head coach Carlos Corberán over the role he could take on at Mestalla.
If Elliott gets the regular senior football he is looking for in La Liga, Liverpool will retain flexibility over what comes next.
A successful spell in Spain could even help shape Liverpool’s wider planning around Elliott, with a contract extension one possible consequence if the loan works well.
