Curtis Jones’ Liverpool Exit Nears: Milan Medical Tests Await

Inter Milan are expected to be Curtis Jones’s next club, with Liverpool nearing an agreement worth around €35m (£30m) for the midfielder. The next step is a trip to Milan on Thursday, 20 August, for a medical, although the move still requires paperwork and formal completion before anything becomes official.

  • Jones is expected in Milan on Thursday, 20 August, for a medical.
  • Inter Milan are closing in on a deal worth around €35m (£30m) for the Liverpool midfielder.
  • The transfer still depends on the medical, paperwork and formal completion.

Curtis Jones’ Current Transfer Situation

Curtis Jones, the Liverpool midfielder at the centre of the proposed move, now appears close to joining Inter Milan as the transfer edges towards its final stages. Liverpool are open to a sale, and an agreement has pushed the move to the point where a medical and the remaining paperwork are the main hurdles still to clear.

Jones has remained a regular part of Liverpool’s first-team picture, making 34 Premier League appearances in 2025/26, with one goal and two assists. In the previous league campaign, he featured 33 times, scoring three goals and adding three assists, so this is not a fringe departure even if Liverpool seem prepared to let it happen.

A switch to Italy could give Jones the chance for more regular game time, while Liverpool are unlikely to move for another midfielder if he leaves. For now, though, the deal should still be treated as pending until the medical, documents and formal confirmation are all in place.

Inter Milan’s Long-Standing Interest in Jones

Inter Milan’s push for Jones has been building for months rather than appearing out of nowhere at the end of the window. The Serie A side tried to put together a January loan with a view to a permanent move, but Liverpool turned that approach down.

Inter then returned in June with a verbal offer of €25m (£21.7m), only for Liverpool to reject that as well. The clubs have since moved closer to a package worth around €35m (£30m), which explains why the planned medical in Milan now looks like the immediate next step.

Liverpool were not rushed into the deal, and Inter did not get there with a first attempt. This has been a steady pursuit that has moved from rejected proposals to a transfer that is close, but still waiting on the final procedural steps.

What the Move Could Mean Next

Jones would head to Inter as an established Liverpool player still in the middle of his prime years. If the final steps go through, the change could offer him a fresh route to regular football in a different league without feeling like a sideways step in his career.
