Crystal Palace would rather keep Ismaïla Sarr than cash in late in the transfer window, with the winger still under contract for another three years and firmly in the club’s plans. That stance has now been tested again, with Palace said to have knocked back a £50 million move from Liverpool after also resisting interest from Galatasaray.
- Crystal Palace are said to have rejected Liverpool’s £50m bid for Ismaïla Sarr.
- Palace want to keep Sarr, who still has three years left on his contract.
- Two Galatasaray approaches are also understood to have been turned down.
Ismaïla Sarr’s current situation at Crystal Palace
Ismaïla Sarr remains a Crystal Palace player, and Pierre Sage has already made the club’s position pretty clear. The Palace manager said he wants Sarr to stay and pointed to the fact that the forward still has three years left on his deal, which gives the club plenty of room to stand firm.
That helps explain why Palace would be so reluctant to entertain a £50m approach at this stage of the window. Sarr was one of their most productive players last season, scoring 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions. He also registered nine goals and one assist in 28 Premier League outings during the 2024/25 campaign.
Sage also moved to shut down any transfer-driven theories regarding Sarr’s recent absence. He stated that the winger missed the 2-0 defeat at Everton because of a worsening groin problem, dismissing suggestions that he had refused to travel.
Galatasaray interest and Liverpool’s winger search
Crystal Palace’s resistance to Liverpool did not come out of nowhere. Palace had already turned down interest from Galatasaray, with two approaches understood to have been rejected as the club held out for a valuation that those offers did not meet.
Liverpool’s move fits into a wider search for winger options and underlines the level of demand for Sarr. Palace are not dealing with a one-off enquiry for a fringe player; they are trying to keep hold of someone other clubs clearly rate highly.
What Palace’s stance could mean for Sarr’s future
The contract situation gives Crystal Palace leverage, while Sage’s public comments and Sarr’s recent output support the footballing case for retaining him through the current window.
Interest from both Liverpool and Galatasaray means the situation remains active, but Sarr is still central to Palace’s plans and the club does not appear eager to change that.
