Hakim Ziyech’s career has had its ups and downs with his latest move to Wydad Casablanca opening up a new chapter. His transfer to Al-Nassr didn’t work out in 2023 because of a failed medical which shows the injury problems that’s been messing with his game time and overall career.

  • Ziyech’s move to Al-Nassr got cancelled after he failed his medical in 2023
  • He ended up signing with Wydad Casablanca which kind of brings his career full circle
  • His injuries have really messed up his chances to play regular

The Rise and Fall of Hakim Ziyech’s Career

Hakim Ziyech’s journey in football has seen some real good times and some pretty rough patches too. He started at Heerenveen then really made a name for himself at FC Twente before really showing what he could do at Ajax. He went to Ajax in 2016 for €11 million and became super important for them winning stuff both in Holland and Europe. Chelsea then paid £37.8 million to get him in 2020 and he was part of the team that won the Champions League in 2021, but then injuries started getting in the way and he wasn’t playing as good as before.

Medical Woes and Transfer Challenges

Ziyech’s career has really been hit hard by all these medical problems which kept messing up his transfers and chances to play. In 2023 he was supposed to go to Al-Nassr but that fell apart when he failed his medical. Even though Ziyech kept saying he was fine this setback was just the start of more problems. His move to Paris Saint-Germain also didn’t happen because of some paperwork mess up which just shows how things keep going wrong for a player who could have done so much more.

Return to Roots: Wydad Casablanca

In what looks more like going back to his roots than trying to move up in his career Ziyech just signed with Wydad Casablanca in Morocco. This move feels like him coming home and getting a chance to play in his own country. He’s got a contract until 2027 with a chance to make it longer which could help him recover and think about all the good and bad stuff that’s happened in his career. But with all his injury problems, it’s looking like he might spend more time getting better than actually playing.
