FIFA’s new rule might make young England players have to pick between the Club World Cup and U21 Euros which is going to affect players like Noni Madueke, Jamie Gittens, Rico Lewis and James McAtee. Teams like Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City will probably want their players for club games instead of letting them play international matches which puts these young guys in a tough spot.
- FIFA changed the rules so players can’t do both tournaments
- The best young players got schedule problems with their clubs and country teams
- Teams want their players to play club games more than country games
Club Commitments vs. International Duty
Noni Madueke who plays for Chelsea FC is really important for how the team wants to grow young players. Chelsea probably wants him to play for them more than anything else. Jamie Gittens who’s at Borussia Dortmund is kind of in the same boat. Since he left Man City for Dortmund he’s been doing really good there.

Rico Lewis and James McAtee who are both Man City players got the same problem. Lewis came up from City’s youth teams and McAtee just got back from being loaned out and City really needs them both. Young Talents Making a Mark
This new rule is going to make it real hard for these young players who now got to choose between playing for their clubs or their countries. Whatever they pick is going to affect both how much they play right now and maybe their whole careers later on. While teams like Chelsea Dortmund and City think about what to do, everyone’s worried about how this affects these players getting better and getting noticed.
