Ibrahim Mbaye Completes Aston Villa Move
Ibrahim Mbaye arrives at Aston Villa on a permanent transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, with the deal valued at €55 million, although the exact split between the initial fee and add-ons remains unclear. For Villa, this is a move for more than just a promising academy graduate.
Last season, Mbaye made 31 appearances for PSG, registering three goals and two assists. He also played in all four of Senegal’s matches at the 2026 World Cup, underlining that Villa are bringing in a young attacker who has already handled senior-level football.
Mbaye Adds to Unai Emery’s Attacking Recruitment
Aston Villa’s push for Mbaye fits neatly into the wider attacking rebuild taking shape under Unai Emery. Villa turned to the PSG forward after missing out on Rafa Leão, and Mbaye now joins an attacking intake that also includes Alejandro Garnacho, Johan Manzambi and Nicolas Jackson.
Emery has described the squad overhaul as a new chapter, with the balance between experience and players with high potential clearly central to the club’s thinking. Villa’s summer business has been vast in scale, with around £280 million spent and more than £313 million brought in through player sales, and Mbaye’s arrival is one of the clearest signs of Emery’s direction in attack.
A Senior Platform for Mbaye’s Next Step
Mbaye came through PSG’s academy and made his senior debut in August 2024 at the age of 16, so his rise has been quick without being rushed. Since then, he has built experience in Ligue 1, European competition and with Senegal, giving him a stronger foundation than many players his age ahead of a Premier League move.
His most natural role is on the right flank, which gives Villa another genuine option in that area as Emery continues to shape the first-team group. That does not automatically guarantee an immediate starting place, but it does give Mbaye a clear route to senior minutes at a club investing heavily in both present quality and future growth.
