Arsenal is in active negotiations to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen. The Ecuadorian defender wants to join Arsenal, even though other clubs are interested. Arsenal is trying to get the €60 million release clause lowered to make the transfer happen.

Arsenal’s Pursuit of Piero Hincapie

Arsenal is right in the middle of big transfer talks to get Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen. David Ornstein from The Athletic says Arsenal wants the 23-year-old center-back but they gotta make space by getting rid of some players first. Hincapie who’s got really good defense skills and gets like 87.9% of his passes right in the Bundesliga really wants to come to Arsenal.


Even though Bayer Leverkusen wants €60 million Arsenal is trying real hard to get the price down. Since Hincapie wants to leave other Premier League teams like Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also trying to get him.

Competitive Interest and Negotiation Dynamics

A bunch of Premier League clubs want to sign Hincapie. Tottenham Hotspur says they’ll loan him for a year then buy him for the release clause price. Chelsea is also interested which makes everything more complicated. Arsenal is still working on getting Hincapie cause he likes them better than the other teams.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Position and Potential Replacements

Bayer Leverkusen knows Hincapie wants to leave and they’re looking at other players to replace him. They’re thinking about maybe getting Manuel Akanji who used to play for Borussia Dortmund if Hincapie goes. This shows how important Hincapie is for Leverkusen’s defense.
