Gabriel Martinelli has brought his seven-year Arsenal spell to an end, completing a permanent move to Al Hilal on 3 September 2026. Al Hilal have announced a four-year agreement for the 25-year-old. The deal was reported as worth €70 million (£60 million), and also includes a sell-on clause.

  • Martinelli has completed a permanent move from Arsenal to Al Hilal.
  • Al Hilal announced a four-year agreement for the 25-year-old forward.
  • The deal was reported as worth €70 million (£60 million), with Arsenal due a sell-on percentage.
  • The fee makes Martinelli Arsenal’s biggest sale to date.

Gabriel Martinelli’s Al Hilal Move

Gabriel Martinelli, the 25-year-old forward who joined Arsenal from Ituano in 2019, has officially become an Al Hilal player following his departure from north London. Arsenal confirmed the permanent transfer.

The financial package is valued at €70 million (£60 million), with the fee described as a guaranteed sum with no add-ons. Arsenal have also secured a sell-on percentage as part of the agreement. The figure makes Martinelli the Gunners’ biggest sale to date, eclipsing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s £35 million switch to Liverpool in 2017. Al Hilal also thanked Prince Alwaleed bin Talal for funding the transfer.

Martinelli’s Arsenal Record and Recent Absence

Martinelli leaves Arsenal with 278 appearances and 62 goals in all competitions, having played his part in winning the Premier League last season, the FA Cup in 2020, and the FA Community Shield in 2023. He grew into one of the club’s most prominent attackers.

An exit had looked increasingly likely in recent weeks. Although Martinelli made 53 appearances last season, he was omitted from Arsenal’s first three matchday squads of the 2026-27 campaign: the Community Shield against Manchester City and Premier League fixtures against Coventry City and Aston Villa.

A New Start at Al Hilal

Martinelli is expected to join Al Hilal’s first-team training on the evening of 3 September, giving him an immediate chance to settle into his new surroundings. In his first message following the move, he stated his desire to win titles and make the fans happy.

Al Hilal’s attacking recruitment has been aggressive this summer, with Martinelli arriving as the club’s third forward signed from the English top flight, following Crysencio Summerville and Ollie Watkins. With Al Hilal having won their first four Saudi Pro League matches, the Brazilian steps into a side already building momentum, providing them with another high-level attacking option for the campaign ahead.
