Wagner doesn’t just care about Birmingham City he also talks a lot about money in English football. He thinks it’s important to look after the big Premier League teams and worries that smaller teams might be taking too much from the big ones. This is all happening while people are talking about sharing Premier League money better with EFL teams. It’s kind of like what’s happening at Wrexham where those Hollywood guys Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds own the team. Both clubs show how big money is changing how lower-league football works.
Expanding Birmingham’s Reach
Wagner wants to make Birmingham City bigger especially in America. He’s noticed that when Birmingham City games are on TV in the US lots of people watch them and he thinks that’s a good way to make the club more famous worldwide. Also Wagner thinks it’s good when local teams like Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers do well too. He thinks when all the local teams are doing good it makes football in Birmingham more exciting and better quality.
While Wagner keeps working on making Birmingham City better that speech he gave during the Wrexham game shows how much he cares about the club and what he wants it to become. Even if some people thought it was weird or ok Wagner is showing he really wants to make Birmingham City really strong in English football.
