Portsmouth’s Tactical Mastery
Portsmouth beat Preston North End 3-1 at Fratton Park and showed they knew what they were doing. Josh Murphy scored an amazing goal from far out in the 36th minute and Connor Ogilvie tapped one in right before half time. They controlled the middle of the field real good which made it hard for Preston to defend properly letting Portsmouth control most of the game.

In the second half Preston’s Emil Riis Jakobsen scored a nice goal to make it interesting but then Colby Bishop who just came back from heart surgery got a penalty in the 89th minute which won it for Portsmouth.
Key Players and How They Did
Everyone played good but some players really stood out. Colby Bishop coming back was really special and helped them win at the end. He missed like 14 games at the start so having him back made everyone feel better. Josh Murphy kept attacking and got his second goal this week which was real important. Connor Ogilvie even scored which is pretty good for a defender.
For Preston Emil Riis Jakobsen played really well and scored from Ryan Ledson’s pass. But Preston still can’t win away from home and haven’t for like 239 days now.
What the Managers Said and What’s Next
John Mousinho who manages Portsmouth was really happy with how they played especially since the start of season wasn’t so good. He was real glad Colby Bishop recovered so quick and helped the team. Paul Heckingbottom who manages Preston wasn’t happy with how his team played in the first half and said they need to be tougher when they play away.
This win helped Portsmouth get off the bottom of the Championship and maybe they can keep playing better now. Everyone’s gonna be watching to see if they can keep changing how they play and if Bishop and Murphy keep playing good.
