Phil Brown’s Time at Kidderminster Comes to an End
Phil Brown who’s managed lots of teams before, is no longer with Kidderminster Harriers after they got knocked out of the National League North play-offs. Brown who used to be in charge at Hull City and Southend United started managing Kidderminster in January 2024. Even though the team started good in the 2024/25 season and came third in the league they lost a really important game to Southport on the last day which messed up their chances of winning the title, then they lost 2-1 to Chester in the play-offs. Brown’s time at the club ended when Richard Lane the chairman said they needed to make changes cause they didn’t get promoted.

When Brown came to Kidderminster everyone thought his experience would help get the team back to the National League. But even though he’d done really well before like getting Hull City into the Premier League he couldn’t quite do enough at Kidderminster. Not getting back to non-league football’s top division was really bad for the club and losing to Chester in the play-offs was the last straw. When Brown left his assistant Neil McDonald went too and it showed how tough things had been at the club.
Looking Ahead: Kidderminster’s Next Steps
Now that Phil Brown is gone, Kidderminster Harriers are trying to rebuild and get someone new to manage the team. The club really wants to get back up and be in the National League again. They’re looking for someone right now who can come in and help the team, maybe someone who can think different about things and get everyone excited again. While Kidderminster thinks about what to do next they don’t want to end up like Sittingbourne FC who also lost in the play-offs. What happens next and if the club does good depends a lot on who they pick to be the new manager.
