Gillingham FC’s hopes for promotion this season are pretty much over which has made them look ahead to what’s coming next. The club is getting ready for big changes to the team, bringing in new players to make the squad stronger while Stephen Clemence takes charge of everything.
- Gillingham FC is gonna make big changes to their squad for the 2024/2025 season.
- They’ve signed Bradley Dack and Elliott Nevitt without paying any transfer fees.
- Manager Stephen Clemence is helping the club through this big change period.
Gillingham’s Strategic Overhaul
Playing in League Two, Gillingham FC has been really busy in the transfer market making lots of changes to get ready for the next few seasons. Instead of trying to go up right now they’re looking at the bigger picture. They’ve brought in Bradley Dack from Sunderland and Elliott Nevitt from Crewe Alexandra both for free which adds more quality to the team. They also got Armani Little from AFC Wimbledon Aaron Rowe from Huddersfield and Jacob Wakeling on loan from Peterborough. At the same time Dom Jefferies, Shaun Williams and George Lapslie have all left showing how things are changing.
Suffice to say promotion now out of the question for Gillingham.
January isn’t about saving this season, rather starting to build some kind of template for next – but a huge rebuild required.
Could be some bad apples to weed out in the summer, depending on OOCs.

Management’s Vision for the Future
Stephen Clemence, who’s in charge now has to guide Gillingham FC through all these changes. Gabriel Sutton tweeted that being 14th means they need to think about the long term future. Clemence wants to make a plan that will work going forward and is looking real close at players whose contracts run out in summer. This will help them figure out who fits in with what they want and who needs to go.
Challenges and Opportunities
Gillingham FC has got to deal with changing the team while still trying to do good in League Two. They don’t have loads of money so they gotta be smart about who they sign mixing experienced players with younger ones. The way they’re signing players shows they want a mix of both to try and go for promotion in the next few years. The next few transfer windows are gonna be really important as Gillingham tries to get rid of players who aren’t doing well and bring in new ones that fit what Clemence wants. How well they handle all this stuff is gonna decide how good they do in the future.
