De Pena who’s from Montevideo Uruguay has done pretty good as a central midfielder. He’s like 1.77 meters tall and everyone knows him for being really good with the ball and making plays happen. He plays for Esporte Clube Bahia right now and has played in 31 games and helped score 3 goals. He’s really good at controlling how fast or slow the game goes and sees things on the field really well.
The Broader Football Transfer Landscape
This whole thing with Carlos de Pena maybe going to Colo Colo shows how crazy football transfers are in South America. Teams are trying to get good players but also trying to keep the ones they got. Like you can see this happening with Atlético Mineiro who are trying to keep their players so other teams like Bahia don’t get them.
Also Bahia is really busy trying to get new players like when they were talking with São Paulo about getting some of their guys. And then there’s Red Bull Bragantino who got Isidro Pitta which shows how serious the Brazilian league is getting.
So like, Carlos de Pena maybe going to Colo Colo is just part of this whole big thing where teams are moving players around to try and get better in South America.
