Newcastle United are moving closer and closer to a big-money takeover of the club, albeit controversial, but should it get done then new players incoming will certainly be at the forefront of the new owners’ minds.

According to a report carried in the Daily Mail, Newcastle want to land marquee transfers straight away and three names mentioned are Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli), Edinson Cavani (PSG) and Nabil Fekir (Real Betis).

Cavani will be a free agent in the summer and despite being 33 it’s reported that his signature will be hotly contested by clubs across Europe, but Newcastle will hope new money and a lucrative contract will be enough to clinch a deal.

Kalidou Koulibaly will likely cost the Magpies in excess of £70million while Nabil Fekir could be available for around £44m, says the report.

Clubs across the world are all set to feel a financial pinch from the ongoing pandemic, but Newcastle’s investment could see them steal a march on rivals and pick up some big name transfers in the summer, should the ambition be shown from the get go by potential new owners.
