Newcastle ‘approach’ Premier League striker to save their season
Newcastle’s desperate fight for survival was made all that harder after a morale sapping defeat to lower league Cambridge in the FA Cup, leaving the mood around the camp at a likely all-time low.
With goals also drying up, Eddie Howe’s side have reportedly ‘approached’ Premier League side Burnley to negotiate the transfer of New Zealand international striker Chris Wood.
The Telegraph claims that Newcastle ‘have not been discouraged’ and there’s a hope that a transfer could be completed as early as this week.
Fans may be raising eyebrows at this one – Chris Wood has just three goals in 21 appearances this season.
