Manchester United are looking to win the race to sign a Portuguese youngster being dubbed ‘the next Luis Figo’ – according to a report in the Mirror.

Luis Gomes, who currently plays for Sporting Lisbon is just 16, but is already drawing comparisons with the great Luis Figo.

Manchester United reportedly have an agreement in place of Sporting for first refusal if the club do decide to sell Gomes – with a fee ‘agreed’ in the region of £14million.

Having just signed a five-year contract at Sporting, Gomes is expected to stay and develop at the Portuguese giants for a while longer.

However, he could be next in-line to make the switch from Lisbon to Manchester – with Bruno Fernandez, Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo all making the same journey north.
