Man City and Man Utd on-alert as Champions League winner’s contract talks stall

Another of the Champions League ‘Class of 2020’ may be about to leave German giants Bayern Munich, with Manchester United and Manchester City on-alert.

According to a report in Sky Sports Transfer Centre, long-time Bayern star David Alaba’s contract talks have ‘stalled’ and the 28-year-old Austrian international may be about to seek a new challenge.

To retain Alaba, Bayern would likely have to break their wage structure, something the German champions are reluctant to do.

David Alaba has less than a year on his existing contract left, and if no deal can be struck before the deadline, it leaves Bayern Munich vulnerable to reduced bids from the likes of Man Utd and Man City.

If they do not agree to a new contract with Alaba in the next week, and the transfer window closes, it leaves the club vulnerable to losing their star defender on a free transfer in the new year.
