Vancouver’s Tactical Mastery
During that intense MLS game on August 23 2025 Vancouver Whitecaps showed they knew what they were doing and didn’t give up. Even with all that drama about the penalty they played real good. Coach Jesper Sørensen had the team playing his way with Thomas Müller as #10 even though he wasn’t really clicking with everyone else. Jayden Nelson messed up on defense which let St. Louis score early but Vancouver’s defense with Tristan Blackmon and Ranko Veselinovic stayed pretty strong. They really turned things around in the second half and started making chances to score.

Reactions and Future Prospects
That penalty call got everyone talking, Vancouver Manager Jesper Sørensen was pretty mad about it. Some fans thought it was right others thought it was totally wrong and everyone started talking about if VAR is good for these big moments. But looking at the actual game Vancouver did really good, they had like twice as many good chances as St. Louis according to MLS stats. Now Vancouver’s got three weeks off so they can work with their new players and fix up how they play.
