Pascal Jansen’s Big Move to NYCFC
Pascal Jansen, who’s pretty well known in Dutch football is starting something new as the head coach of New York City FC. He signed for four years which is kinda huge cause he’s leaving Europe to coach in Major League Soccer (MLS). This happened after some people connected to City Football Group bought out his contract with Ferencváros which really shows how big football groups are getting interested in MLS.
Pascal Jansen’s contract at New York City FC will be valid for the next four years.
His flight to the US is being planned for the next days. ✈️ https://t.co/7p5F6GZtRY

Jansen did real good at AZ Alkmaar, like getting them to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022-2023. He likes his teams to play attacking football like the Dutch legends did and now he’s bringing all that experience to NYCFC.
What’s Ahead in MLS
Being in charge of NYCFC means Jansen can try out his ideas and coaching style in MLS. The club really wants to get better and they think Jansen can help their young players grow. Since he knows a lot about European football he’ll probably have some different ideas for the team before next season starts.
Jansen coming over is part of this bigger thing happening in MLS where more international people are moving around like Leonardo Campana going to New England Revolution and Jesús Murillo moving to Juárez. All these moves show how the league is getting bigger and teams are changing things up.
Starting Fresh at New York City FC
Jansen got the job after Nick Cushing got fired as NYCFC’s head coach in November 2024. With the way he likes to do things and how he wants his teams to play creative attacking football Jansen could really change things in MLS.
Looking at how he went from PSV Eindhoven’s youth teams to running AZ Alkmaar and now NYCFC you can see how much he’s grown as a manager. While Jansen gets ready for his trip to the US everyone’s waiting to see what he’ll do at New York City FC.
