Riqui Puig has been really important for LA Galaxy’s success getting picked for the 2024 MLS Best XI. Even though he got a bad ACL injury that ended his season his play has shown he’s one of the best players in Major League Soccer.

Puig’s Impact on LA Galaxy

When Riqui Puig came over from FC Barcelona to LA Galaxy in 2022 it turned out to be a real smart move. The Spanish midfielder became like super important in the team’s midfield showing off how quick he is and how good he is at making plays. He got an amazing 36 goals and assists with 17 goals and 19 assists which shows how good he was for LA Galaxy’s attack. But then he got real unlucky and tore his ACL in the Conference final against Seattle Sounders which meant he couldn’t play in the MLS Cup final vs NY Red Bulls.

With the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup coming up LA Galaxy’s gonna really miss having Puig cause of his injury. The tournament which is gonna have 32 teams for the first time and be in the United States is gonna be tough but also really exciting for MLS teams. Since Puig can’t play the team needs to figure out how to play without his playmaking skills. But maybe he’ll be back by then which would be great for when they play against teams from other countries. Everyone’s gonna be watching to see how Puig gets better as we get closer to the Club World Cup.
