Coaching Excellence and Rising Stars
Jesper Sørensen who coaches the Vancouver Whitecaps has really helped the team do well this season. The way he thinks about the game and changes things up got him nominated for the Sigi Schmid MLS Coach of the Year. Sørensen has really helped players like Brian White get better which helped the team do great in the MLS and CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Also the league has seen some young players like Alex Freeman and Anders Dreyer become really good. Freeman who plays for Orlando City can do lots of different things on the field and is #2 on the MLS’s 22 Under 22 list. Dreyer has done just as good for San Diego FC scoring 19 goals and helping with 19 more.
Defensive Strength and Future Prospects
In defense Olwethu Makhanya from Philadelphia Union has been really important helping the team have the best defense in the league. He’s made their defense so strong that teams find it really hard to score against Philadelphia Union.
The 2025 MLS season has shown us lots of amazing players and smart coaching. From Messi’s record breaking season to Sørensen’s smart coaching and new young players getting better the league keeps getting more and more exciting to watch.
