Javier Mascherano, the former Argentine international and Barcelona stalwart, is going to take on a new role as the head coach of Inter Miami. This move, reported by Fabrizio Romano, marks a big change for both Mascherano and the MLS club especially since he’s got close ties with Inter Miami’s star player Lionel Messi. The fact that Mascherano played with Messi at Barcelona and for Argentina makes this whole thing pretty interesting.

  • Javier Mascherano starts his first professional club coaching job at Inter Miami.
  • The move makes the Argentine connection with Lionel Messi even stronger.
  • Inter Miami wants to build on what Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino left behind.

Mascherano’s New Challenge at Inter Miami

Getting Mascherano on board isn’t just about his coaching skills but also because he knows Messi so well which could really help with how the team works at Inter Miami. Julian Gressel says Messi has already changed everything for the team making everyone step up their game. Since Mascherano and Messi are such good friends from playing together for so long it should help him fit in at the club and handle all the big names on the team.

People think this move will help the team get better as they get ready for the next MLS season and playing in the Club World Cup.

Challenges and Prospects Ahead

As Mascherano gets ready to take over at Inter Miami he’s got to figure out how to deal with MLS which is different than what he knows. His experience from playing at big clubs like Barcelona and Liverpool will definitely help him out. The time he spent coaching Argentina’s Under-20s including getting them ready for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games has helped him learn the ropes.

The next MLS season is going to show if he can be as good at coaching as he was at playing. With games coming up both in America and internationally Mascherano’s going to need to show he can handle all these different challenges.
