Chicago Fire Secure Promising Talent Chris Cupps in Homegrown Deal

Chicago Fire has made a big move by signing 16-year-old center back Chris Cupps to a homegrown deal showing how they want to develop young talent. Cupps has been really good in the Chicago Fire Academy showing what he can do at the U-19 level. He played really good during the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season with 15 games and 975 minutes of play which got him noticed by the first team as Chicago Fire wants to make their defense stronger with homegrown talent.

Chris Cupps’ Rising Career

He’s played in games in Argentina and Uruguay too which proves he can play at higher levels. He just got picked for the U-17 USMYNT training camp in Florida which shows how important he is becoming for the national team.

Signing Chris Cupps isn’t just about getting another player it’s about investing in what’s coming next. He’s big and strong in defense which makes him really valuable for the team. Now that he’s with the first team everyone’s going to be watching to see how he does. This is kind of like what other teams in MLS are doing with their young players too.
