Liverpool end interest in defender after being put off by €60m price

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have seemingly ended their interest in signing defender Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan.

Virgil van Dijk remains on the sidelines and fans and pundits are calling on the Reds to sign a top centre-back in the January transfer window, but 25-year-old Skriniar won’t be the one – according to Italian source Calciomercato.

Inter Milan have told Liverpool that their bottom line on such a transfer would be €60million (£54m) – that is too much in the current market for the Reds.

Names reportedly on the shortlist of Liverpool include Ozak Kabak of Schalke, and Ajax’s Per Schuurs. The more expensive duo of Napoli’s Koulibaly and Leipzig’s Upamecano aren’t likely arrivals in the new year due to their huge costs.
