Moscardo’s Immediate Move to PSG

In a significant transfer move, 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Moscardo has confirmed that he is joining Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) with immediate effect. Despite rumors suggesting a potential loan back to his previous club Corinthians, PSG has clarified that this was never an option. The transfer, confirmed by renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, highlights PSG’s commitment to integrating young talent directly into their squad.

Moscardo, who plays primarily as a defensive midfielder but is versatile enough to cover central midfield roles, is expected to bring youthful energy and defensive solidity to the French giants. Standing at 1.85 meters, his physical presence and ball-winning abilities have been key attributes in his development at Corinthians.

Transfer Details and Financials

Gabriel Moscardo’s transfer to PSG comes with a substantial financial commitment from the French club. The deal is valued at €20 million, with an additional €2 million in performance-related bonuses. Moscardo has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at PSG until June 30, 2028.

Previously, Moscardo made 18 appearances for Corinthians in Brazil’s top flight Serie A, showcasing his potential and earning him a call-up to Brazil’s U23 national team, where he has already earned a cap. His market value, as of June 17, 2024, stands at €15.00 million.

Medical and Player Statements

During his medical examination in late December, an issue was detected that will require Moscardo to undergo foot surgery. Despite this setback, the player expressed his excitement about joining PSG. “I am very happy to join Paris Saint-Germain; it is one of the most beautiful days of my life. It is a project with talented young players. I am eager to join the group and get to know the entire team and coaching staff. I hope to win many trophies in the Red and Blue colors and make the fans happy,” Moscardo stated.
