Olympique de Marseille has shaken things up in the transfer market with some smart signings to make their squad stronger for Ligue 1 and European games. You can see what they’re going for with getting players like Emerson Palmieri, Nayef Aguerd, Matt O’Riley and Benjamin Pavard, which has made this their biggest transfer window ever.

  • Emerson Palmieri comes over from West Ham United for €1 million plus maybe €300,000 extra
  • Nayef Aguerd is back in Ligue 1 costing about €23 million
  • Matt O’Riley and Benjamin Pavard are here on loan to help the team

Defensive and Midfield Strengthening

The new players Marseille got shows they really wanted to make their defense and midfield better. Emerson Palmieri, who plays left-back and is Italian-Brazilian, knows what he’s doing from his time at Chelsea and AS Roma before coming from West Ham. Nayef Aguerd who’s good at defending and plays for Morocco, is coming back to Ligue 1 with a deal going till 2030.

For the middle of the field, Matt O’Riley is here for a year on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion to replace Adrien Rabiot. The Danish guy is really good at making plays happen. Also Benjamin Pavard who can play lots of positions in defense, came on loan from Inter Milan and they might buy him for €15 million if they want.

Marseille’s Big Moves

These new players show how serious Marseille is about getting better. They went after players who’ve been around and know what they’re doing which shows they want to be one of the best teams in France and other places too. With some experienced defenders and a good midfielder, Marseille looks ready to do well.

These big signings are happening right when Olympique de Marseille turns 125 years old showing how the club wants to honor its past while looking ahead. If you wanna know more about the players before this, check out West Ham United’s old transfers.
