Bennacer’s Move to Marseille
Ismaël Bennacer, who’s really good at defensive midfield has started something new by joining Olympique Marseille on loan from AC Milan. This move which has an option to buy, is pretty big for Bennacer as he keeps getting better in one of Europe’s best leagues. He was born in Arles France and started playing at Arles before going to Arsenal but he didn’t play any games there. He really got noticed at Empoli which led to AC Milan buying him in 2019 for €16 million. At Milan he played really well in different midfield positions and helped them win Serie A in 2021-22.

Impact on Marseille’s Midfield
With Bennacer coming to Marseille the team’s midfield is going to get a lot stronger. He’s known for being tough fast and smart on the field and can play lots of different positions from deep midfield to more attacking roles. This is really good for Marseille as they try to do well in Ligue 1. Bennacer has played 137 games and scored seven goals for AC Milan and he’s also done really good for Algeria’s national team helping them win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
International Success and Future Prospects
For Algeria Bennacer has been really good getting 50 caps and being super important when they won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations where he was picked as the best player of the tournament. Even though he played for France’s youth teams choosing to play for Algeria turned out really good for them. Now that he’s at Marseille on loan, they want to use his international experience and leadership to do better. Since they can buy him later, it looks like Marseille thinks he could help them for a long time.
