Al-Hilal has joined the race to sign Joel Ordoñez, a young center-back from Club Brugge that’s turning heads. The 21-year-old from Ecuador has been catching everyone’s eye with how he’s been playing in the Belgian Pro League, and now big clubs like Olympique de Marseille want him too. The way things are going this could be a pretty big deal in football.

Al-Hilal’s Interest in Ordoñez

Al-Hilal, who’s like really big in Saudi Arabia, really wants to get Ordoñez to make their defense better. They’re looking at him right when they’re getting a new manager too, Mohammed Al-Shalhoub is taking over for now. Al-Hilal wants him cause they wanna be seen as a bigger deal worldwide and play better football.


Since he joined Club Brugge back in August 2022 Ordoñez has been really important for them. This season, 2025/2026, he’s already scored once in just two games which is pretty good. Lots of big European teams have noticed how good he is especially Olympique de Marseille who think he’s worth at least €30 million.

Ordoñez’s Development and Market Value

Joel Ordoñez has gotten a lot better while playing at Club Brugge and now he’s super important for their defense. Playing in Belgium has really helped him get better – lots of young players do really well there before moving to bigger leagues in Europe.

His contract with Club Brugge goes until 2027 and people think he’s worth about €40.6 million now. The way he’s been playing, lots of teams who need better defenders really want him.
