Real Madrid is facing a big choice as club president Florentino Pérez wants a “corporate reorganization” to deal with money problems connected to a controversial LaLiga investment deal. The club’s members will vote on this idea to decide if they need to change how the club is owned to protect their financial future. Right now Real Madrid is one of the few clubs in Spain that’s owned by its members along with Barcelona Athletic Club and Osasuna. Pérez came up with this idea because he doesn’t agree with LaLiga about a CVC investment deal that gave other clubs €2 billion for future TV money. Pérez thinks the way the club is owned now doesn’t protect their money well enough especially when the league negotiates TV rights for everyone.

  • Real Madrid members will vote on the proposed corporate reorganization.
  • The plan is to keep the club’s financial freedom.
  • Pérez doesn’t like the CVC deal, saying it takes money away from Real Madrid.

Motivation Behind the Proposal

The reorganization is supposed to keep the club independent and make sure members still own it protecting their money situation. Pérez has been really loud about not liking the CVC deal saying it would take money from Real Madrid and give it to LaLiga. Nobody knows exactly what the reorganization looks like yet but Pérez said he’ll explain everything at the next meeting. When he was talking about this he also complained about the 2024 men’s Ballon d’Or results saying Vinícius Júnior from Real Madrid should have won it. He also kept talking about how much he wants the Super League saying they need it because the Champions League isn’t working right.

Potential Impact on Real Madrid’s Future

What the members decide about changing how the club is run will really matter for Real Madrid’s future. If they change how the club is owned it could change a lot about how they run things and handle money. Pérez wants to keep the members in charge so the club can stay independent and financially healthy. This is all happening while Real Madrid is dealing with lots of other stuff like managing the team and competing in LaLiga.
