Inter Keep Lautaro Martínez Off the Market Amid Barcelona Interest

Barcelona’s search for a new centre-forward has run into another major obstacle, with Lautaro Martínez understood to be firmly off limits as Inter remain unwilling to entertain a sale. That leaves the Spanish club with little room to push a deal forward for now, especially as their contact appears not to have moved beyond an initial enquiry.

  • Inter are understood to view Lautaro Martínez as strictly unavailable for transfer.
  • Barcelona’s interest does not appear to have advanced beyond an early enquiry.
  • If Inter hold their position, Barcelona will need to keep working through other striker options.

Lautaro Martínez’s Current Situation at Inter

Lautaro Martínez remains a central attacking figure for Inter, which goes a long way towards explaining why the club are so reluctant to open the door. Inter are treating him as a player they simply do not want to lose, rather than someone they are prepared to discuss in the market.

His numbers back that stance up neatly. Across 30 Serie A appearances in 2025, Lautaro produced 17 goals and six assists, while he also added four goals in seven Champions League league phase matches. For a side still built around reliable attacking output, that is not the profile of a player Inter would find easy to replace.

Barcelona’s Interest Has Not Advanced

Barcelona’s interest in Lautaro appears to have stayed at a very early stage. The contact made so far seems to have gone no further than an initial enquiry, with no established offer and no sign of advanced negotiations with Inter.

This does not look like a transfer that was close and then suddenly blocked; it appears to have been difficult to develop from the outset.

Barcelona still want to bring in a number nine following Ferran Torres’s move to Paris Saint-Germain, so Lautaro’s apparent unavailability is unlikely to end the search. It simply makes this route much harder at a time when the club are already weighing up several possible solutions in the market.

Julián Álvarez remains the priority in that wider search, while Georges Mikautadze and Ayoze Pérez are also being monitored. If Inter continue to hold the line on Lautaro, Barcelona would be expected to keep exploring those alternative options rather than forcing a move that currently has very little space to grow.
