Venezia are reportedly closing in on Toni Fernández, with the Barcelona prospect due for a medical on 1 September as the potential move edges towards the finish line. The deal could be worth €4 million and include a 50% sell-on clause plus a buy-back option for Barcelona, while the move still awaits its final formal steps.

- A four-year contract is expected, with Venezia offering a potential next senior step after limited competitive minutes at Barcelona.
Toni Fernández’s move to Venezia takes shape
Toni Fernández remains a Barcelona player for now, with his move to Venezia entering its final stretch.
Barcelona have only used Fernández sparingly at a competitive senior level so far. He has made a single 45-minute La Liga appearance in 2025 and played 10 minutes in the Copa del Rey in 2024/25, which points to a move built around opportunity rather than a player already established in the first team.
Fernández has still been around the senior setup recently. He was among the young players given minutes in Barcelona’s match against Udinese on 8 August 2026, and his appearances in late July and early August point to a player who has been close enough to the first-team picture without quite breaking through.
A four-year contract is also anticipated, underlining that Venezia would be bringing him in as more than just a short-term gamble.
Venezia now appear to be the preferred destination despite interest from elsewhere, including Aston Villa, Leeds United and Bundesliga clubs. It would give Fernández a clearer senior pathway and a possible attacking depth role rather than any promise of an instant starting place.
If the medical is completed as planned and the last details are finalised, Fernández could soon complete the move. For Venezia, it would be a young-talent move, while the clause structure would allow Barcelona to keep a stake in his future.
