Aymeric Laporte looks like he might be heading back to Athletic Club even though he’s got other offers from different teams. The defender wants to go back to the Basque club where he first started playing pro football. Right now they’re talking between Athletic Club Al-Nassr and Laporte but nothing’s been decided for sure yet.

  • Laporte really wants to go back to Athletic Club which fits with how they only sign certain players
  • They’re still talking between Athletic Club Al-Nassr and Laporte
  • Nobody’s agreed on everything yet and they need to talk more

Laporte’s Desire to Return

Aymeric Laporte might be going back to where it all started as he’s trying to return to Athletic Club where he first became really good. Even though he could get more money elsewhere the defender seems like he really wants to go back to the Basque team. They’re talking right now between Athletic Laporte and his current team Al-Nassr but nobody’s signed anything yet and they still gotta work out how he’ll leave the Saudi team.

The Al-Nassr Connection

Laporte’s time at Al-Nassr has been pretty big coming after he played for Manchester City. Since he joined Al-Nassr in 2023 he’s been really important in defense playing 69 games. When he went to the Saudi Pro League it was part of what Al-Nassr was doing to get better players like when they got Cristiano Ronaldo too.

Athletic Club’s Unique Appeal

Laporte wants to go to Athletic Club not just cause he used to play there but also cause of how special the club is with who they sign. They only get players from the Basque area which makes them different from other teams in La Liga and that’s why players like Laporte who are from there might want to play for them. The team’s been doing good lately and getting Laporte would make them even better.

If Laporte comes back it’d be like coming home since he played there from 2012 to 2018. With everything he’s done including playing 180 games for Manchester City him coming back would really help Athletic Club with defense and experience and stuff.
