Gerrard urges Aston Villa to sign superstar Europa League winner
Steven Gerrard is looking to put his own imprint on the Aston Villa squad in the January transfer window and has reportedly become a big admirer of a Europa League winner and Spanish international.
According to Spanish source Fichajes, Gerrard wants Villa to go all in and sign Pau Torres from Villarreal in the new year – a defender that has been linked to Real Madrid, Man Utd and Tottenham, to name but a few.
The Europa League winners would seek in the region of €50million for the deal to transpire, with the club fully aware of the 24-year-old’s stock and value at this stage of his career.
The report, in Spanish, states that Torres may still lack some of the qualities of a top, elite player, and as such a move to an Aston Villa could be the smart move – not forgetting the pull of the Premier League and ambition shown by the Midlands club.
