Champions League hopefuls Leicester keen to sign Real Madrid ‘reject’ for £31m

Leicester City are eyeing up the transfer market for a bit of ‘budget’ buy from Real Madrid, according to a report via the Star, with Brendan Rodgers’ side on course for Champions League qualification.

Links to Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic are heating up, with a bid of up to £31million said to be enough for the Spanish giants to sell up, a year after splashing out £54m on the Serbian international.

The 22-year-old was highly-regarded in Frankfurt, and coveted by top European clubs, but his year at Real Madrid has been forgettable – two goals in 25 appearances represents £27m-a-goal.

Leicester seem to believe that a switch to the King Power Stadium will freshen up Jovic’s game and that he can recapture the form that caught the eye while in Germany.

Chelsea are also believed to be monitoring the situation regarding Jovic, but with Timo Werner in the door, their needs for more goalscorers, alongside Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham may not be so high.
