Bayer Leverkusen has made a move by signing Alejo Sarco a young forward from Argentina. The transfer, which was done on January 1, 2025 sees Sarco joining the German club with a five-year contract till June 2030. They got him to help with attacking since some important players are injured.

  • Alejo Sarco has signed a five-year contract with Bayer Leverkusen.
  • The transfer was completed on a free basis after Sarco’s release from Vélez Sarsfield.
  • Leverkusen wants to make their attack stronger because Victor Boniface and Patrik Schick are injured.

Sarco’s Football Journey

Alejo Sarco started playing in the youth teams of Vélez Sarsfield and signed his first pro contract in March 2022. He played his first game for the main team in March 2024 against Talleres de Córdoba. While at Vélez he played 23 games for the second team and scored 2 goals, and played 8 games for the first team scoring one goal. Lots of international scouts noticed how good he was which is why he ended up at Bayer Leverkusen.

Since Sarco has both Argentine and Italian passports it was easier for him to move to the Bundesliga which fits with how Leverkusen likes getting young players. Going from Vélez Sarsfield to Leverkusen is a big step up for him.

A Promising Future in the Bundesliga

Moving to the Bundesliga is really important for Sarco’s career. He plays really fast and moves around a lot which will help Leverkusen’s attack. He’s got a strong build and is really good with his left foot which makes him tough to play against. He also played for Argentina in the 2023 South American U-17 Championship where he got 5 goals in 20 games.

Now that he’s at Bayer Leverkusen, the team thinks he’ll help them do better in the Bundesliga. This move could be really good for both Sarco and Leverkusen in the next few years.

Leverkusen’s Strategic Acquisition

When Bayer Leverkusen got Alejo Sarco it was part of their plan to get young talented players. They were watching him since July 2024, and when he didn’t want to stay at Vélez Sarsfield they let him go in November 2024. They really needed someone like him because Victor Boniface and Patrik Schick got injured.
