Vasco da Gama has fired manager Rafael Paiva after a bunch of bad results in the Brasileirão. They made this call after losing 3-1 to Corinthians which was their fourth loss in a row. Even though they’re not going to get relegated right now Vasco wants to get into Copa Libertadores which is super important for them this season.
- Rafael Paiva got fired because the team kept losing.
- Vasco da Gama wants to play in Copa Libertadores.
- Felipe “Maestro” is taking over for now.
Vasco’s Managerial Shift
Rafael Paiva started coaching Vasco da Gama in June 2024 after Álvaro Pacheco left. With Paiva the team did pretty good in Copa do Brasil getting to semi-finals and got like 43 points early on. But then he only won 13 games drew 10 and lost 12 which wasn’t great especially lately so they fired him. Now Felipe “Maestro” is going to be in charge for some big games against Atlético-GO Atlético-MG and Cuiabá.

Managerial Changes in Football
What happened at Vasco is pretty normal in football these days because teams are always firing coaches when things don’t go well. Like in the Premier League Leicester City just got rid of Steve Cooper too. It’s just how football works nowadays with all the pressure to win.
At the same time São Paulo FC is trying to get better by buying players like Wendel da Silva Costa from FC Porto. This shows how teams are always changing stuff with managers and players.
Impact on Team Dynamics
As the season keeps going everyone’s going to be watching how these new managers and players change how the teams play and where they end up in the league. Vasco da Gama hopes getting a new manager will help the team do better and win more games.
